From the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS):
The USGS Native Bee Inventory and Monitoring Program is buzzing about the bees! The program designs and develops large and small-scale surveys for native bees. Additionally, the USGS provides the first-ever identification tools and keys for North American native bee species. The tools are to create detailed pictures of native bees and the plants and insects they interact with: http://on.doi.gov/1ArrAfb
USGS and its partners have conducted native bee inventories at more than 100 national parks, wildlife refuges and forests. The program’s native bee database of approximately 250,000 collection records of bees and wasps rivals that of the largest museums. Photo credit: Sam Droege, USGS.
