Endangered Species Act Success Story

Challenger the Eagle and his caretakers at American Eagle Foundation want everyone to know it is American Eagle Day!
On this day in 1783, the Second Continental Congress selected the bald eagle to be the central image of the Great Seal of the United States.
The majestic birds are considered an Endangered Species Act success story for making a remarkable recovery from their near-extinction. They were removed from the endangered species list in August 2007 but are still protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Act.
