Star Cactus

From USFWS Southwest Region:

Star cactus (Astrophytum asterias) is an #EndangeredSpecies found in the arid, subtropical shrublands of the Lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas, and the Mexican states of Tamaulipas and Nuevo León. Once far more abundant, it has disappeared from many areas due to cactus collectors. Conservation and recovery of this species requires close collaboration between the U.S. and Mexico. #ESDay#EndangeredSpeciesDay (Photo: Chris Best/#USFWS)
