From USFWS Endangered Species:
The American burying beetle is the largest carrion beetle in North America. Yes, we said carrion! Once found in 35 states, American Burying Beetles are now limited to Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Arkansas, Rhode Island. In Nebraska, they are found in the Sandhills, the largest stabilized dune system in the Western Hemisphere and one of the largest, intact native grasslands remaining in North America.
