We like aspens for their shimmering leaves and brilliant colors. Many birds and animals prefer aspen stands for breeding, foraging and resting. A study at National Elk Refuge is gauging the health of aspen stands by documenting their age and how much browsing they show from deer and moose. http://1.usa.gov/1qnOIB9
