Eagle Rescue

Congratulations! Three bald eagles were released today at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia by the Wildlife Center of Virginia. A very happy wildlife Wednesday story: http://bit.ly/1sVcJEq.

On May 12, two young eaglets (#14-0649 and #14-0650) were found down on the ground in Chincoteague, Virginia, on the Eastern Shore. A biologist from theVirginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheriesassessed the situation – the birds’ nest blew down after a storm, and was unable to be restored. On May 22, in Tappahannock, Virginia, a small tornado touched down and destroyed an eagle’s nest (#14-0867). Now all three eagles have been rehabilitated and released back into the wild!
