From Great River and Clarence Cannon National Wildlife Refuges:
Five short-eared owls were recently seen flying late in the afternoon just north of the office building. These owls are observed on the refuge sometimes in the fall and winter, but usually in the early morning or late afternoon. Their ear tufts are so short they're often invisible.
