Not Your Average Nutcracker ; White-breasted nuthatch

From Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge:

Not Your Average Nutcracker

There are no prima ballerinas here...just a small upside-down walking bird and a nut.

The white-breasted nuthatch gets its name from jamming large acorns and other types of nuts into a tree's bark and then whacking the nut with its sharp beak until the seed is revealed. YUM!

See if you can find this nutcracker for the holidays!
