Approximately 16,500 ducks and 1600 geese were observed on the Louisa and Horseshoe Bend Division earlier in the week. The ice cover on the refuge has definitely increased throughout this week. The mallards in this photo were all observed today in one small section on the edge of Fox pond that is otherwise covered with ice.
