#FishWatchFriday NOAA Fisheries biologist Kevin Rademacher holds a king mackerel caught during leg IV of the 2016 longline survey. Note the steeply dropping lateral line at the second dorsal fin, which differentiates king mackerel from other similar looking fish, like spanish mackerel and wahoo (you can also tell a wahoo apart by its stripes). Fish use this lateral line to detect movement and vibrations in the water.
