Green-winged Teal

From Klamath Basin Refuges:

This week we have for you the smallest of the dabbling ducks in North America; you guessed it the Green-winged Teal. The drake is identified by his cinnamon head and green crescent from the eye to the back of the neck, his body is primarily gray with patches of white. As with most duck species the hen is drab with a splotchy brown pattern. Green-winged Teal feed on aquatic invertebrates and seeds. They are also able to take off directly from their loafing position without assistance of running along the water surface.
