Today Interior and the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced steps to protect Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness by denying a proposed mine near the area. With its pristine waters and internationally renowned fishing, Boundary Waters in Minnesota is one of the most visited wildernesses, generating $45 million annually to the local economy from tourism and outdoor recreation. Today’s decision was based on public comments, and the Departments will continue to study the potential impacts of mining to the area. Learn more: http://on.doi.gov/2gFc4De
