Whooping Crane

From USFWS Southwest Region:

At up to 5 feet tall, whooping cranes are the tallest birds native to North America, well illustrated by this individual towering over the white-tailed deer in the background. Catch sight of one yourself at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge this winter. (Photo: Shiloh Schulte)
