Christmas Bird Count

From Grand Canyon National Park:

The annual Christmas Bird Count is a great way to get outdoors and check out the birds in your backyard across the country. The count was quite successful at Grand Canyon National Park this year. On the official count day, December 14th, which was very cold with fresh snow, we set a new record of 58 species recorded! Rare and exciting species that were seen included a Greater Roadrunner, Long-eared Owl, Three-toed Woodpecker, and a Sharped-shinned Hawk. This count would not have been as successful without the many dedicated volunteers who participated.
