Greater Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus)

From the USFWS_Migratory Birds:

This edition of alphabirdical is R for roadrunner, as in Greater Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus). In real life, this brown bird of the Southwest and northern Mexico can fly for short distances, but it is usually on the ground hunting for small mammals, lizards, or even birds. Contrary to some depictions, it can only run half as fast as the coyote, but at a top speed of over 20 mph, it can still outrun most of us. What is your choice for the letter S? You can find the list here:http://www.fws.gov/migratorybirds/regulationspolicies/mbta/MBTANDX.HTML
