Migratory Birds in a Wetland Habitat

From the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS):

Happy #InternationalMigratoryBirdsDay! Did you know that wetland and riparian habitats are critical for tens of millions of migratory birds? Many birds depend on these habitats as stopover sites where they refuel during migration across western North America. However, climate change is threatening these critical ecosystems and the birds that rely on them—in the Southwest, climate models are predicting warmer and drier conditions in the future. Scientists with the USGS National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center and several partner agencies investigated how climate change may alter wetland stopover habitats in the West and what these changes could mean for migratory birds.
