Glass Lizard (Not a Snake)

From Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge:

Here's another view of our legless friend, the glass lizard. The general body shape often tricks people into thinking they are snakes, but this lizard has movable eyelids and external ear openings, making it a lizard. The glads lizard can deter predation by dropping off part of its tail, which can break into several pieces, like glass! Photo: S. Heisey/USFWS
