North Central Texas Cities Renew Partnership to Address Environmental Issues

DALLAS
 – (Feb. 12, 2014) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) are working with cities in north central Texas to address key environmental issues in the area. Several cities formed a forum for north central Texas municipalities and agencies to develop to leverage regional resources and promote stewardship through a variety of economic, social and environmental initiatives.

Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth and Plano are the leading the initiative to build a stronger region and continue their collaboration with EPA and the NCTCOG.

“We are pleased to work with north Texas’ cities to address environmental issues and we are equally proud to show the commitment we have to making the area better for future generations,” said EPA Regional Administrator Ron Curry.

“We are excited to once again partner with the EPA and the North Central Texas Council of Governments to address key issues surrounding the preservation of our environment,” said Mayor Mike Rawlings.

“Denton has a long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Denton Mayor Chris Watts. “We look forward to continuing collaboration with the cities of Dallas, Fort Worth, and Plano to address regional concerns.”

“We’re looking forward to joining with the cities of Dallas, Denton and Plano to better coordinate our efforts in sustainability,” said Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price. “By working in partnership with our regional Council of Governments and the federal EPA, we can find solutions that will continue to make our region a great place to live, work and play.”

“The City of Plano is equally committed to improving the environment in our region,” said Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere. “We believe working together in a partnership with the EPA and our municipal colleagues is an effective approach toward addressing issues impacting all of North Texas.”

North Central Texas Stewardship Forum provides an opportunity for north central Texas local governments and agencies to convene, discuss current issues and initiatives, train, discover untapped environmental opportunities and implement actions that will reduce environmental impacts in the area. The goal of the forum is to maximize environmental benefits and improve the quality of life of local residents.
