Rockwell Collins seeking Green Communities grant proposals
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Jan. 24, 2013) – Rockwell Collins is currently seeking proposals for its 2013 Green Communities grant program. Launched nine years ago, the program helps fund environmental projects in communities where the company operates. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 15, 2013, with grant winners being announced in conjunction with activities on or around Earth Day, April 22, 2013.
To apply for a grant, a nonprofit group must be teamed with a Rockwell Collins employee or retiree and the projects must improve the environmental condition of a community in which Rockwell Collins operates. In addition to traditional conservation and restoration projects, the Green Communities program will also emphasize the rebuilding of communities through restoring environmental habitats that have been damaged by natural disasters.
“Started in 2004, this program has awarded 348 grants, funding several grassroots projects in the communities where our employees live and work,” said Jenny Becker, community relations manager for Rockwell Collins. “Grant recipients greatly appreciate our support and the willingness of Rockwell Collins employees to volunteer for these projects and make a difference.”
Grant awards will range from $500 to $2,500. Only projects conducted or sponsored by qualified non-profit organizations or public/government entities are eligible.
A grant review committee will judge project applications based on criteria including:
