EPA
Awards over $57,000 to Improve Water Quality and Environmental Education in San
Angelo
(DALLAS – July 20, 2012) The Environmental Protection
Agency has awarded $57,500 to the Upper Colorado River Authority (UCRA).
The UCRA will use the grant to track sources of bacteria in a San Angelo-area
waterway to help plan water quality improvement strategies.
The grant will also fund development of
environmental education programs for San Angelo students. A water quality
stewardship program will target schools with lower socioeconomic populations,
while an additional program will be developed for all seventh-graders in the San
Angelo Independent School District.
