EPA Awards Over $300,000
to the State of New Mexico to Prevent Air Pollution
(DALLAS – July
18, 2012) The Environmental Protection Agency has
awarded $300,204 to the New Mexico Environment Department. The funds will be
used by NMED to administer the state’s Air Pollution Prevention and Abatement
Program which aims to prevent, reduce and eliminate air pollution. The funds
will also be used to administer the State’s air permitting, air planning,
environmental compliance programs and ambient air monitoring
activities.
The NMED will
monitor for major pollutants, identifying major and minor sources of air
pollution that may be impacting New Mexico. This will assist in helping New
Mexico residents live healthier lives and breathe more easily.
