Fringe-Leaf Ruellia

From Fort Scott National Historic Site, National Park Service:

This small purple flower, called Fringe-Leaf Ruellia, is hard to find since it only opens for one day and then it will fall. It’s also small, reaching a height of only 4-20 inches. It grows in the eastern half of Kansas and is drought resistant; livestock also love to eat it. If you find this sweet little flower be careful because the petals will fall off if you shake it.
