Endangered Thick Billed Parrot

From U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Southwest Region:

The endangered Thick Billed Parrot is a love bird that mates for life. It is the only parrot native to the U.S. that is still alive today. It was once found in the wild in Arizona and New Mexico and now only found in the wild of Mexico. These parrots prefer nests in large diameter old growth trees and have lost habitat due to logging. In the U.S. they can be found only in Zoo's like the San Diego Zoo Global where research on habitat needs is being completed.
