Ozark Hellbender

From U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Endangered Species:

There is some really interesting research on one of the coolest species ever – the Ozark hellbender. Biologists have been wondering why hellbenders are declining, and they thought that these giant salamanders couldn’t reproduce as well because of contaminants in the water. So they have been evaluating the sperm health of male hellbenders. And the good news is that they seem to be healthy, which is great for captive breeding efforts.
