From USFWS National Wildlife Refuge System:
A bobcat pauses at California’s Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge (http://go.usa.gov/3Wcyd). Because of its southern latitude, 227-feet-below-sea-level elevation and Sonoran Desert location, the refuge sees some of the hottest temperatures in the nation. Daily highs from May to October exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit, with 116-120 degrees recorded yearly. Photo by Mark Stewart / U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
