Returning to Greensburg, Kansas

The story of the rebuilding of Greensburg, Kansas is a wonderful story of a tragedy bringing about something better than before.  It should be noted, however, that Greensburg received considerable volunteer help and free materials.  For example, architectural students and Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas provided free design services.  In addition, several vendors provided free construction materials, probably for marketing purposes.

Any municipalities thinking of following Greensburg's example might want to investigate what similar arrangements they might be able to make.
