Mitchell’s Satyr Butterfly

From U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Midwest Region:

Mitchell’s satyr butterflies survive winter as caterpillars covered by snow. In spring the caterpillars resume feeding until it’s time to form a chrysalis. After 10 - 15 days, an adult butterfly emerges.
