TOMORROW: EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson to Dedicate New Region 7
Office Headquarters in Lenexa, Kan.
(Lenexa, Kan., Dec. 3, 2012)
– EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson will officially open EPA Region 7’s new
headquarters at 11201 Renner Blvd., Lenexa, Kan., during dedication ceremonies
scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 4,
2012.
EPA Region 7 began moving its
headquarters office to Lenexa in early October. The new lease agreement,
negotiated by the General Services Administration, could save an estimated $22.5
million over the next 20 years through reduction in building size and longer
lease period. In addition, the new headquarters building has been certified as
“Platinum” by the LEED program – the highest certification available. Energy
usage at the new building is projected to be 32 percent less than energy usage
at Region 7’s previous location, 901 N. 5th St., in Kansas City,
Kan.
