American Coot (Fulica americana)

#Thursday #USGS #Bird

From Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge:

American coots are a common site on the refuge in the spring and fall. While this species has a duck-like appearance in the water, American coots do not have webbed feet and are more closely-related to rails and cranes than ducks and geese.
