EPA Administrator to Deliver Remarks at 85th Annual League of United Latin American Citizens National Conference
WASHINGTON - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy will travel to New York today to deliver remarks at the 85th Annual League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) National Conference Presidential Banquet. LULAC is the largest and oldest Hispanic civil rights organization in the United States. McCarthy’s remarks will focus on climate change and disproportionate public health impacts on the Latino community.
Climate change supercharges health risks like asthma and others ailments associated with increased temperatures and pollutants that come packaged with carbon pollution. EPA’s Clean Power Plan proposal, a vital piece of President Obama's Climate Action Plan, cuts carbon pollution from existing power plants, the single largest source of carbon pollution in the United States.
