Scientists to Do River Survey this July

EPA Press release:

Scientists to Do River Survey this July

Scientists will be in the Coeur d’Alene River the week of either July 15 or 22, 2013. They will be doing “geophysical surveys” from a boat. On Monday, they will set up GPS equipment. On Tuesday through Friday, they will collect data. This activity is part of site investigation work involving legacy mine waste contamination.
The boat will operate between the Cataldo Mission and Rose Lake boat launches. It will be moving slowly (2-3 knots) for data collection. A magnetometer and sub-bottom profiler (see photos below) will be towed underwater behind the boat. An electrical resistivity imaging cable will float on the surface. Flags or buoys will mark the presence of towed equipment in the water. The boat will make multiple passes over the river bed to collect data.
