A group of Republican senators demanded an explanation from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on how its practices will change after a recent Supreme Court ruling on the Clean Water Act.
Lead by Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), 16 senators requested that EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson respond to a comment by the water enforcement division that said the court’s decision on Sackett v. EPA will have little effect on the agency and that, “internally, it’s same old, same old.”
“It is very troubling that an EPA official with water enforcement responsibilities would believe that the Supreme Court’s decision in Sackett has little effect on how the agency enforces the Clean Water Act,” the senators wrote in a letter to Jackson.
