Back in the 1970-80's, North Key Largo was slated to become the next big residential development in the Florida Keys and with it the loss of habitat needed for threatened and endangered species, such as the American Crocodile and Key Largo woodrat.
Join Mike Chenoweth on Saturday, March 11th - 7 pm at the Murray Nelson Government Center (102050 Overseas Highway, Key Largo) as he describes the players and the political, social, and economic processes that created the protected conservation lands of North Key Largo.
This lecture is one of dozens of events in the second annual Outdoor Fest which is a mostly free wildlife festival that occurs from Saturday, March 11th through Saturday, March 18th, brought to you by the Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuge Complex, FAVOR (Friends And Volunteers Of Refuges – Florida Keys) and the Monroe County Tourism Development Council.
