Creating New Wildlife Habitat from Used Christmas Trees

From USFWS National Wildlife Refuge System:

More than 11,000 old Christmas trees were air-dropped last week onto Bauyou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana (https://www.fws.gov/refuge/bayou_sauvage/) to create new wildllife habitat. The trees also break waves, reducing erosion. Through over 20 years of Christmas tree drops, the refuge has helped establish 100 wetland acres. The project is a joint effort with the city of New Orleans and the Louisiana Army National Guard. (USFWS)
