Wood Ducks Are Beautiful

Wood ducks are beautiful. This photo by Dan Staples – taken at Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge in Missouri -- vividly shows you the difference in coloring between the male and female. They live in wooded swamps and nest in holes in trees. They are one of the few duck species with strong claws, able to grip bark and perch on branches.
