Our #SciSelfieSunday today is USGS hydrologist Michelle Sneed works on a drill rig to repair a groundwater monitoring well. This particular well is important because its water level matches the nearby ground subsidence measured in California’s Central Valley. USGS monitors land subsidence because its effects include damage to buildings and infrastructure such as roads and canals, increased flood risk in low-lying areas, and lasting damage to groundwater aquifers and aquatic ecosystems.http://ca.water.usgs.gov/
