The Mourning Cloak

From Necedah National Wildlife Refuge:

The Mourning Cloak is one of the longest lived butterfly species. Adults live up to 10 months; overwintering as adults and mating in the spring. They may look a little dull and tattered this time of year after hibernating in cracks and crevasses in the woods!
