Lansing, MICHIGAN — During a three-day swing, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin traveled across Michigan with Representatives Bill Huizenga (R-MI-04) and Tom Barrett (R-MI-07) to highlight the Trump EPA’s work to deliver measurable environmental results, strengthen critical energy infrastructure, and advance science-based solutions to emerging environmental challenges.

On Friday, September 25, 2026, Administrator Zeldin and Representative Huizenga visited the Trowbridge Dam on the Kalamazoo River, where EPA is overseeing the largest contaminated sediment cleanup project in the country. The responsible party began dredging in April 2025 and has removed more than 330,000 cubic yards of PCB-impacted sediment and treated more than 900 million gallons of water. Now, the community is on the brink of seeing a free-flowing Kalamazoo River for the first time in 100 years.

The progress at Trowbridge is part of the Trump EPA’s broader efforts to return contaminated land to productive use. Since January 2025, EPA has completed more than 290 cleanups, selected 30 cleanup remedies, updated 59 cleanup plans, cleaned up more than 59 million cubic yards of contaminated soil and water at Superfund sites while generating billions in revenue for communities.

On Saturday, September 26, 2026, Administrator Zeldin met up with Representative Barrett to visit and tour the Enbridge Stockbridge Terminal, which is part of critical energy infrastructure that helps transport energy to Michigan and the nation. While at Enbridge, the pair participated in a roundtable with more than a dozen energy leaders to discuss the importance of building infrastructure to move affordable and reliable energy throughout the state for Michigander families and businesses. Administrator Zeldin highlighted that pipelines are the safest and most environmentally friendly way to move American energy and that the construction of them helps support good-paying jobs. The Trump EPA is committed to working to unleash American energy and lower energy costs at every turn.

Later in the day, Administrator Zeldin and Representative Barrett visited the Michigan State University Center for PFAS Research to tour the facility and learn about the new and innovative PFAS research being done. Since 2025, EPA has given over $200 million to Michigan communities to address PFAS.

Administrator Zeldin ended his trip with a tour of the Ford House located northeast of Detroit, Michigan. EPA’s Great Lakes Restoration initiative has been a part of the Ford House’s restoration work. The Administrator has visited Michigan multiple times since being sworn in as he works to advance cooperative federalism and fight for Michiganders’ future.
