EPA and DOE Announce The 2022 ENERGY STAR Award Winners

NEW YORK-The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) are announcing the winners of the 2022 ENERGY STAR Awards. These 210 organizations, which represent the top ENERGY STAR partners, are making important contributions in support of America’s clean energy transition. They come from 37 states and span nearly every sector of the economy, including Fortune 500 companies, schools, retailers, manufacturers, home builders, and commercial building owners and operators across the United States.

“We know it’s going to take all of us working together to tackle the climate crisis, and the 2022 ENERGY STAR award-winning partners are demonstrating what it takes to build a more sustainable future,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “These companies are showing once again that taking action in support of a clean energy economy can be good not only for the environment, but also for business and customers.”

For 30 years, ENERGY STAR has been America’s resource for saving energy and protecting the environment. In 2020, energy savings from ENERGY STAR and its partners helped reduce U.S. electricity consumption by the equivalent of over 10% of total U.S. demand, while delivering emissions reductions equivalent to 5% of U.S. total greenhouse gas emissions.

Leading the way in delivering these results are award-winning partners that have demonstrated a commitment to energy efficiency through ENERGY STAR. More than 150 of these award winners are being recognized for their continued commitment, year after year, to energy efficiency through the program’s highest honor: ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award. 

Here are the 2022 ENERGY STAR Award Winners taking action in New York:

(New York, NY) Bristol Myers Squibba, biopharmaceutical company, used ENERGY STAR energy management tools and resources to exceed its 2020 sustainability goals by achieving a 24.3% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a 17.3% reduction in energy use from a 2015 baseline.

(New York, NY) BentallGreenOak , a global real estate investment firm, continued to grow its robust energy management program and widely promoted its ENERGY STAR partnership to internal and external stakeholders.

(Melville, NY) Canon U.S.A., Inc., a consumer, business, and industrial imaging equipment manufacturer, reached over 4.2 million consumers through social media, featuring the energy and cost savings and environmental benefits of ENERGY STAR.

(Poughkeepsie, NY) Central Hudson Gas & Electric, an electric and gas utility, saved over 68,000 MWh and 6,000 MMBTUs in the past year with product programs that featured ENERGY STAR.

(New York, NY) CodeGreen Solutions, a real estate sustainability and energy management company, benchmarked almost 1,400 properties comprising 660 million square feet, and provided verification for ENERGY STAR tenant recognition and building certification for more than 170 properties. 

(New York, NY) Colgate-Palmolive Company, a consumer products manufacturer, demonstrated continued leadership in leveraging ENERGY STAR tools and recognition to advance energy and decarbonization management practices for a 1.97% energy intensity reduction in 2021 and a 29.48% reduction since 2005.

(New York, NY) Columbia Property Trust, a publicly listed real estate investment trust, leveraged ENERGY STAR to grow its comprehensive energy management program and communicate with its internal and external stakeholders to drive energy efficiency initiatives at its properties.

(New York, NY) Con Edison, an electric, gas, and steam utility, achieved over 31,000 MWh in energy savings through its online marketplace alone.

(Corning, NY) Corning Incorporated, a manufacturer of specialty glass, ceramics, and advanced optical products supported ENERGY STAR in the development of new industrial decarbonization tools and in advancing energy efficiency in the glass industry.

(New York, NY) Empire State Realty Trust, a real estate investment trust, leveraged ENERGY STAR in its energy management program and promoted best practices to internal and external audiences, including certifying 76% of its building portfolio, representing over 7.2 million square feet.

(New York, NY) ENGIE Impact, a sustainability services provider, for continued commitment to delivering ENERGY STAR to the market, providing automated benchmarking services for more than 48,500 client buildings and assisting more than 1,000 clients secure almost $18 million in rebates for ENERGY STAR certified products

(Holbrook, NY) Green Team LI, a home performance contractor, helped more than 500 homeowners achieve an energy savings of 40 MMBtu per year and completed almost 1,800 home performance assessments.

(New York, NY ) Link Logistics Real Estate, an owner-operated firm of supply chain real estate, demonstrated its commitment to energy management and environmental protection, earning ENERGY STAR certification for 29 properties and incorporating ENERGY STAR into its communications.

(New York, NY) MetLife, Inc., a global financial services company, integrated ENERGY STAR into capital planning and budgeting processes and energy management best practices and achieved ENERGY STAR certification for 32 properties in 2021.

(New York, NY) Nuveen Real Estate, a real estate investment management firm, demonstrated outstanding energy management across its portfolio and achieved ENERGY STAR certification for more than 45 properties in 2021.

(New York, NY) Paramount Group, Inc., a fully integrated equity real estate investment trust, demonstrated a commitment to energy management and ENERGY STAR, leveraging ENERGY STAR tools and resources and recognition opportunities to promote best practices to internal and external audiences.

(Uniondale, NY) PSEG Long Island, an energy company, exceeded goals by installing Home Performance with ENERGY STAR projects in 1,362 homes, which reduced energy use by more than 30,000 MMbtu.

(New York, NY) SL Green Realty Corp., a fully integrated real estate investment trust, engaged in tenant outreach and education programs for internal staff focusing on energy management and achieved ENERGY STAR certification for 13 buildings across its New York City and suburban portfolios in 2021.

(New York, NY) Tishman Speyer, an owner, developer, and operator of real estate, continued its commitment to achieving excellence in energy management, benchmarked 100% of its properties in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, and leveraged ENERGY STAR tools and resources to achieve its energy reduction goals.

(New York, NY) Verizon, a telecommunications company, certified four stores and two data centers as ENERGY STAR in 2021, for a total of 648 certifications since 2002, and installed 79 ENERGY STAR certified electric vehicle charging stations.

(New York, NY) Vornado Realty Trust, a fully integrated real estate investment trust, maintained its excellent energy management program and consistently promoted ENERGY STAR and energy efficiency best practices throughout its organizations and to its tenants.

(Rochester, NY) Wise Home Energy LLC, a home performance company, collaborated with a state energy agency to reduce energy use through electric heat pumps.
