From Great River and Clarence Cannon National Wildlife Refuges:
This Fence Lizard was spotted at a home off of the refuge near the edge of some woods. This lizard often lives around country homes and rock gardens, split rail fences, and stacks of firewood, most typically drier areas. They are most active from late March through early October so keep your eyes open as you get outdoors this spring.
Missouri has eleven species of lizards and two subspecies.
